Summer Mystery Quilt

I developed this mystery for my guild, Illinois Quilters, Inc. and posted it to QuiltBee and Quiltnet; feel free to share it with your friends, just let them know where you got it! There are only 4 parts. If you do the mystery, I would appreciate a photograph of the resulting top.

Summer Mystery Quilt - Part 2

Please, be sure you've completed Part 1 before beginning Part 2

Step II - Cutting

(Hint: label each stack of patches with its letter. Store in a flat box)

Fabric # 1 (background)

Patch A: 52 squares cut 3 1/2" by 3 1/2"
Patch B: 12 squares cut 2" by 2"
Patch C: 24 squares cut 3 7/8" by 3 7/8", then cut these squares diagonally once to yield 48 triangles

Cutting hints: cut 4 strips 3 1/2" into 48 squares; 2 strips 3 7/8" into 20 squares then into 40 triangles; 1 strip 2" into 12 squares. Remaining squares and triangles can be cut from remaining fabric.

Fabric #2 (dark)

Patch D: 52 rectangles cut 2" by 3 1/2"

Cutting hint: cut 3 strips 3 1/2" into 2 inch rectangles

Fabric #3 (focus)

Patch E: 24 squares cut 3 7/8" by 3 7/8", then cut these squares diagonally once to yield 48 triangles

Cutting hint: cut 3 strips 3 7/8" into 24 squares then into 48 triangles.

Fabric #4 (medium light accent)

Patch F: 48 squares cut 2" by 2"

Cutting hint: cut 3 strips 2" into 2" squares

Fabric #5 (medium dark accent)

Patch G: 61 squares cut 2" by 2"

Cutting hint: cut 3 strips 2" into 2" squares

Step III Making triangle squares

Take 48 each C and E patches and make into 3 1/2 inch triangle squares. Press to focus fabric.

Step IV Making accent pairs

Take 48 each F and G patches and sew into pairs. Press to darker fabric.

Next time one of the blocks will be completed!
