This pattern will make a 36" x 36" quilt top without borders.
If you are using scraps from your scrap bag you will need fabric to equal the above.
Using the 1/2 yard of dark fabric and the 1/4 yard of light fabric cut the following (or the equivalent from your scrap bag):
light fabric strips 2-1/2 " wide by whatever length (if this comes out of your scrapbag it is whatever length available, if you are cutting from a full piece of fabric is will be approximately 44")
dark fabric strips 4-1/2" wide by whatever length (if this comes out of your scrapbag it is whatever length available, if you are cutting from a full piece of fabric is will be approximately 44")
Strip piece them together so that you will have a strip similar to figure 1 (where the "d" stands for "dark" fabric). (Remember to use 1/4" seams and 12 to 15 stitches per inch).

Press seam towards the dark fabric.
You will need 36 pieces of the configuration shown in figure 2.
